Accessed Achieves WCAG 2.2 AA Compliance: A Milestone in Digital Inclusion
A moment to celebrate
This week marks a significant milestone for Accessed: we’re thrilled to announce that our website is now certified to WCAG 2.2 at AA level. This is more than a badge, it reflects our commitment to creating equitable, accessible experiences for all, within the building industry, and now within our own digital space.
Why WCAG 2.2 AA matters
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.2 (WCAG 2.2)¹ builds on previous versions to address evolving web technologies and user-needs. Achieving AA level means we’re ensuring not only basic compliance but also enhanced usability for a wide range of users (including those with blindness, low vision, motor disabilities, deafness, hard of hearing, or neurodiversity).
By committing to WCAG 2.2 AA, we:
Unlock better access for everyone: people using screen-readers, keyboard-only navigation, magnification, alternative input devices, etc.
Demonstrate our leadership and credibility in accessibility consulting: it’s one thing to advise clients, it’s another to represent our audience on our website.
Future-proof our digital presence: and better align with evolving regulatory expectations and best practice.
We also recognise website accessibility is important, not just for people with disability, but for all, and designing our website to WCAG standards improves the digital experience for everyone.

The journey behind the certificate
The process was rigorous:
We began by engaging me2 accessibility to complete a full professional audit of our site: structure, markup, colour contrast, navigation, input forms, semantic HTML and ARIA where needed, and complete revisions and testing.
We engaged The Yard Creative to refine our content and roll out the recommended semantic HTML and ARIA, and interaction changes to meet WCAG 2.2’s AA criteria.
We adopted an ongoing monitoring mindset: compliance is not a “set-and-forget” exercise but a living commitment.
What this means for our clients & collaborators
For our clients, architects, certifiers, builders, town planners, disability services and beyond, this achievement isn’t just symbolic. It means when you engage Accessed, you are working with a partner who:
Understands digital and built accessibility holistically.
Demonstrates first-hand experience in applying digital accessibility standards as well as physical-environment standards.
Has refined processes that consider accessibility from the outset, not as an after-thought.
Aligns with the inclusive values that many organisations are increasingly embedding in their brand, culture and compliance frameworks.
In summary
Achieving WCAG 2.2 AA compliance is a proud moment for Accessed, but it’s just one milestone in a continuous journey. Inclusion doesn’t have a finish line. As digital patterns and technologies evolve, user needs change, and so must we.
Thank you for being part of this journey. Here’s to building more accessible, inclusive and empowering experiences together.
