ACCESSED refines and redefines the consultancy that was BCA Access Solutions, focussing on accessibility of public buildings as legislated by the BCA, and evolving into a progressive consultancy incorporating the full extent of disability access legislation and standards for public buildings and residential dwellings.
2008
In 2008, Aja Goddard commenced access consulting at the encouragement of family working in the building industry. They recognised the increasing importance being placed upon accessibility and the need for specialist consultants who understood accessibility from the perspective of people with a disability, which Aja could bring from her background in diversional and recreation therapy. She worked as a sole trader in Newcastle, NSW, while developing relationships with certifiers, architects and builders, and continued to work in disability services.
2011
In 2011, as Aja achieved accreditation with ACAA, BCA Access Solutions was established with the support of leading certification company BCA Certifiers. Working independently, BCA Access Solutions conducted access reviews alongside the certifiers and steadily grew a self-sufficient client-base with a full-time workload.
The company evolved into a consultancy with a national presence, engaged by building professionals in the ACT and Queensland, completing international projects for the Australian Government, and has now reached every state and territory in Australia.
2015
New staff joined Aja in 2015 and 2018, demonstrating the growth of the company and the profession overall as disability access legislation advanced. The dynamic team intend to preserve the friendly energy that comes with a boutique consultancy, enabling them to efficiently service a familiar client-base.
PRESENT
As accessibility requirements continued to progress into different facets with Livable Housing and Specialist Disability Accommodation becoming more prevalent, 2021 was the time to refine and redefine BCA Access Solutions, coinciding with its 10th anniversary. Access has become so much more than the BCA and we desired a brand reflecting this. Enter: Accessed. Disability access progressed.
